Never place your piano in the Sun. Over time it will fade the finish. never place your piano over a heat vent, as it will dry out the wood and crack your soundboard or pin block. Also your tuning will be effected by theses different places. Inside walls are best where there are no drafts. Pianos are like people, they are affected by the weather. Also concerning Grand pianos, caster cups should be used, as not to ruin your carpeting and wood floors.
